Glenluce Mineral Spring, situated along the Loddon River in Vaughan, near Vaughan Springs, offers a retreat just a brief drive from Castlemaine, nestled within the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park.
The spring boasts remarkable rock formations lining a picturesque creek, complemented by a rustic wooden table and a pump for accessing mineral water.
It's an ideal locale for a leisurely picnic amidst stunning natural beauty and the tunes of native birds.
WATER QUALITY - SODIUM MAGNESIUM BICARBONATE
The water from the Vaughan - Glenluce springs contains sodium bicarbonate and magnesium. It's a bit salty, with about 2600 to 5000 milligrams of dissolved salts per litre, and around 2000 to 3000 milligrams of bicarbonate per litre, along with roughly 260 to 350 milligrams of chloride per litre.
Compared to springs nearer to the top of the Great Dividing Range, the Vaughan-Glenluce mineral waters are saltier. There are higher levels of sulphate and chloride in the water at Vaughan than at Glenluce.
